700 tonnes of sludge removed

After around 30 years, Staufen’s town lake was dredged for the first time. Amodes undertook this challenging task using modern technology, an experienced team and with the clear aim of improving water quality in the long term.

In just three weeks in February 2026, around 700 tonnes of sediment were removed. An amphibious dredger was used, which gently sucked the sludge from the lake bed whilst simultaneously working on the embankments.

“As well as the right technology, projects like this require, above all, experience and a delicate touch,” explains Amodes project manager Keld Svensen. “Our team can immediately tell if there are any obstacles in the sludge or if the suction process needs to be adjusted.”
